“Preppers” and survivalists have accumulated a significant amount of collective knowledge, but there is much still that is overlooked. We feel that a major limitation in the thinking in these groups is a prioritization of survival. Many of the people we speak to about our services are not interested in basic survival; they not only wish to survive, but to thrive — maintaining a high quality of life no matter the circumstance.
At RES, we focus on helping our clients to be able to not just survive catastrophic events, but to maintain a desirable quality of life regardless. For obvious reasons, it will likely not be possible to maintain the quality of life that most of us are currently accustomed to in collapse scenarios. Air travel, media content, and digital communications networks are not able to be maintained if societal collapse is underway. Supply chain collapses will make many products difficult or impossible to access, and without proper planning, effective substitutes for daily essentials, like toilet paper and coffee, will be out of reach.
We feel that many people that are preparing to survive in a post-collapse society are myopic in their thinking. Even if they recognize the need for many of the things that we recommend clients to acquire in planning to rebuild, we feel that they fail to grasp the truly grim nature of what living in a post-collapse society means without extensive and proper preparation. For clients who participate in our strategic planning and allocation of resources (SPAR) process, we spend considerable time discussing the realities that they must prepare for, while also providing them with proactive steps for how to avoid the majority of undesirable living conditions that will be prevalent in a collapse scenario.
While the default living conditions for those who survive the catastrophic events and a subsequent gradual or rapid civilizational collapse might be grim, they do not have to be. Much can be done to ensure a very reasonable quality of life relative to what we know now. Consider that following a collapse you could still have electricity to power home electronics; you can farm and hunt to provide a sustainable lifestyle; you can work with a community to produce more difficult to manufacture goods.
While nobody can ensure that humanity will avoid global catastrophes and the potential collapse scenarios that follow, there is a lot that RES can do to drastically change your individual prospects, should the worst happen. For the committed individual, our thorough, scientifically backed SPAR process, can maximize your family’s resilience to catastrophic events, and provide you peace of mind right now.
